Based in Scunthorpe, Jen's Special Place is a child bereavement charity founded to help young people and their families navigate the difficult journey of loss. Meeting monthly, the group offers a warm, empathetic setting where children express grief through play, arts, crafts, and peer support—parents and carers join too, receiving both emotional connection and practical guidance.

What They Do:

  • Monthly support sessions: Peer-led, child-focused activities that create space for expressing feelings and fostering growth in a caring environment .

  • Parent/carer workshops: Guidance-focused meetups help adults learn ways to support their grieving children—next one being a special session at The Arc in Scunthorpe .

  • Referrals welcome: Open to self-referral or via professionals—any child affected by bereavement (parent, sibling, grandparent) is eligible.
