Founded in 2019 by Joanne Wright, Sunflowers is a volunteer-led charity dedicated to creating heartfelt, inclusive experiences for children aged 3–16 with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions—and their families—across Lincolnshire and Yorkshire.
Fun-filled events: From superhero sleepovers and cinema club to chocolate-making and gymnastics, Sunflowers organises over 100 safe, joyful sessions annually.
Community-building impact: These events reduce isolation, align with mental & physical wellbeing goals, and empower families to connect .
Recognition for kindness: Every year, children who go above and beyond are honoured in the "Sunflowers Superstars Hall of Fame".
Celebrity-backed fundraisers: Annual ball events—attended by Emmerdale and Coronation Street stars—support their mission and raise essential funds.
Trusted community partner: The charity works closely with local hospitals, hospices, councils, and businesses, reinvesting all donations directly into events (no paid staff) .
Impressive growth: From a Christmas party to serving 130 families and running 80+ annual sessions, Sunflowers has become an indispensable support network.
Sunflowers Children's Action Group isn't just a charity—it's a growing community sowing hope, joy, and lasting relationships. With every event, they help families craft beautiful memories in the face of serious illness.
